Big Bin Events allow residents to dispose of household items too large for regular collection at no charge.

The first two Big Bin Event weekends (May 8-9 and May 15-16) have been cancelled in order to follow the Alberta Health Services outdoor gatherings restrictions and help limit the number of residents gathered on site at a time. They will be rescheduled for later in the year, if feasible.

A decision whether the May 29-30 Big Bin Event will proceed will be made after the May long weekend.

The City of Edmonton is hosting Big Bin events for household items that can’t be set out for regular waste collection. Ten weekend events will be held in various locations throughout the City.

City residents will be able to drop off items such as old couches, chairs, mattresses, and appliances free of charge. Computers and other electronics will also be accepted for recycling.

Do not bring household hazardous waste like paint, varnish, household cleaners or batteries. Please take those items to an Eco Station.

Eco Stations will hold free drop-off weekend events for residential waste only in June and September 2021. Visit edmonton.ca/ecostations for more information.
