Share your ideas and help us build great public places downtown.

Comprehensive engagement is required to ensure the Downtown Public Places Plan meet community needs and help provide guidance for an increasingly vibrant, well-designed, accessible and sustainable downtown.

Phase 3 Survey

We are now in Phase 3 and we are presenting the Plan’s Big Moves!

Public Engagement Plan

It is important that the public and stakeholders be involved in shaping the Downtown Public Places Plan to create a stronger, more relevant and effective plan. This Public Engagement and Communications Plan outlines how to involve and gather their insight and feedback to inform the project.

Project Timeline

Phase 1

Understand the Context - Completed

Thanks for sharing your ideas about Downtown Public Places.

We thank all of you that participated in one of the Phase One drop-in engagement sessions. Results from that feedback can be found in the What We Heard report.

Your input will be invaluable as we work towards a new public places plan for Edmonton’s Downtown.

If you weren’t able to attend a session, presentation materials are still available for review under Project Documents.

Phase 2

Analyze the Site

To achieve the project objectives, high level spatial quantitative and qualitative data has been analyzed within the Downtown.

View the Analysis Report.

Phase 2 Engagement: Visualize - Complete

The draft policy framework and concept plan was presented to the public and stakeholders during Summer 2018.

Thank you to all for participating in the Phase Two engagement and providing feedback on the Concept Plan (29MB).

Your feedback will be significant as we help shape Edmonton’s Downtown. Results from that feedback can be found in the  What We Heard Report (10MB).

Phase 3

Develop the Plan - In Progress

We have revised the concept plan and recommendations based on feedback in Phase 2. We have integrated them in a draft plan with strategic directions, plan-wide policies, and site-specific actions.
