The City of Edmonton’s Public Engagement Section is the central hub of the City’s public engagement activities. Office staff support City Council and Administration by:

  • Providing advice to the departments that carry out public engagement
  • Leading the City’s public engagement effort on large, city shaping projects
  • Being the caretaker of the City’s policies, frameworks, and tools for public engagement, including online engagement
  • Facilitating a network of City public engagement practitioners (OPEN – The Office of Public Engagement Network)
  • Coordinating, advising on, and undertaking market research activities
  • Managing a roster of pre-qualified public engagement and market research consultants
  • Researching, coordinating, and piloting best practices in civic education and leadership
  • Supporting innovation in the field of public engagement

Policy C593 – Public Engagement

The City of Edmonton’s Public Engagement Policy (C593) was approved by City Council in April 2017. It provides the foundation for the City’s approach to public engagement, including:

Market Research
